Hi All,
I am new to this Tribe and just wanted to say, "Namaste!" to all. It's wonderful to find other souls resonated with the ancient science of life!
I am currently a clinical doctorate student in Ayurvedic Medicine at the American University of Complementary Medicine in Los Angeles. I am really enjoying diving deeper and deeper into the study.
I am a longtime Yogananda devotee and have studied Chinese medicine and Homeopathy as well, but, I'm LOVING how the Ayurvedic medicine connects with all of my spiritual studies over the years.
Warm regards,
Andrew

Thu, January 18, 2007 - 11:18 AMNamaste!
I've studied a bit of ayurveda and pancha karma. After quite a few years of hanging out with the yogis and shaivites, I'm more into Tibetan Buddhism these days. I do Medicine Budda Practice and would like to study Tibetan Medicine someday.
Speaking of tying it all together, have you ever read Dr Vasant Lad's book "Textbook of Ayurveda: Fundemental Priciples"? -

Mon, January 29, 2007 - 9:22 AMYou know Dr. Bhagwan Dash has written quite extensively about Tibetan medicine and its connection to Ayurveda. He found that a lot of lost texts in Ayurveda had been translated into Tibetan and were preserved there! You might want to read some of his writings on the matter. They are wonderfully interesting. He mentioned that Buddha's physician, Jivaka, had written in Sanskrit in Ayurveda, but the original writings were lost. Apparently, Jivaka's writings are still around in the Tibet, translated into Tibetan. Great stuff.
I have not read Dr. Lad's Fundamental Principles book, but, I have read Bhagwan Dash's.
Best,

Mon, January 29, 2007 - 11:27 AMThanks for the lead!
It is my current understanding that much of the finer points and some of the technical side of Tibetan Medicine are tucked away in the tantras for which there is much preparation (developing compassion, single pointedness of mind, etc.), followed by initiation from a qualified teacher - so its not suprising that there is not a lot available for reading in the general public. -

Tue, January 30, 2007 - 12:01 AMYes, I'm sure the depth of any great work is revealed by diving deep into the self and expanding the consciousness beyond the ego.
I have started reading Dr. Dash's book "Tibetan Medicine with special reference to Yoga Sataka." I know he has like a small encyclopedia of several volumes on the topic of Tibetan medicine. He is a very devoted and humble scholar and physician, who has been diving into these realms for probably about 60 years. Fascinating.
