Hello, my fiance and I are traveling to India soon, and I am wondering if anyone has recommendations for a Ayurvedic center in India to seek quality panchakarma treatments (preferably from someone who has been to one over there). Thanks!

Re: Panchakarma in India
Thu, August 30, 2007 - 5:56 PMHi,
www.aryavaidyasala.com from Kerala (State), India
These people are very authentic and really good. I have not been to this place but still could recommend.
"Kottakkal Arya Vaidya Sala (AVS) is a century old Charitable Institution engaged in the practice and propagation of Ayurveda, the ancient health care system of India. Arya Vaidya Sala offers classical Ayurvedic medicines and authentic Ayurvedic treatments and therapies to patients from all over India and abroad."

Re: Panchakarma in India
Sun, September 2, 2007 - 7:50 AMI have been to aryavaidya shala in Kottakal with several friends...I wanted to check it out for my mom.
They do not do panchkarma on request....No treatment for metabolic or endocrine issues.
I was fortunate to get a chance to meet the big doc here, most people don't.
I have heard their oil massages are very helpful for pain related issues.

Re: Panchakarma in India
Sat, September 1, 2007 - 12:53 AMI went to Nargauna- north of Cochin. Their medicine is very good. A good hospital in the north is PVA, the doctor is excellent and the para medics well trained. Also heard the hospital recommened on this thread is very reputable.
Om shanti,

Re: Panchakarma in India
Wed, May 28, 2008 - 11:37 PMI had a panchakarma treatment at the School of Ayurveda and Panchakarma in Kannure, Kerala. I also studied there. You will need a month to do it right, but they will do shorter treatments if you must. Do a search for them online. I felt a lot better afterwards, and my lactose intolerence went away for about half a year afterwards, unfortunately to come back again, but my digestion was excellent afterwards. -

Re: Panchakarma in India
Thu, May 29, 2008 - 4:33 AMOm shanti John, I too studied there and can NOT recommend their services. First of all any reputable center and school will be near a river, not an ocean! Have you wondered why most Hindu's do not near the sea? Best wishes, Jody -

Re: Panchakarma in India
Thu, May 29, 2008 - 11:08 PMI enjoyed it. Kannure, and Kerala in general have always been a hot spot for ayurveda. The school did lack in some things, like an ayurvedic cook that would make all your meals for you, but over all I thought it was a pretty thourogh pancha karma experience, and much better than one you would get here, where the average panchakarma is crammed into a week rather than a full month of treatments.

It's community run, so it'd be great if you'd want to share your experience. They are very dedicated people.
