Hi, I apologize in advance for the cross-post, but this is something that I thought would appeal to people in several different tribes.

We are pleased to announce AyurvedaMD (www.ayurvedamd.org), an organization that has been established to promote education, training, and research for integrating Ayurveda with conventional western health care. Our distinguished faculty includes Drs. Vasant Lad, MASc, Robert Svoboda, BAMS, John Douillard, DC, Baxter Bell, MD, and Frank Ninnivaggi, MD.

This October, in Berkeley, CA, we will be kicking off a series of conferences that will run through the spring of 2009.

Ayurveda 101- Science of Life and Longevity

Dates: Oct. 24-26, 2008
Location: UC Berkeley, Berkeley, CA
Times: Fri 7pm-9pm, Sat 9am-6pm, Sun 9-3
Cost: $375 ($295 for all students w/valid ID)
Instructors: John Douillard, DC, PhD

This program provides a comprehensive overview designed for physicians, nurses/practitioners, psychologists, physician’s assistants, social workers, and other health care professionals. Dr. Douillard will weave together the matrix of Ayurveda and Western perspectives on primary care and behavioral health.

You will receive an introduction to basic Ayurvedic principles including Dosha or body type analysis and tri-dosha theory, Gunas (attributes), and Five Element Theory.

Seasonal and daily routines including diet, exercise, stress reduction, yoga, and meditation will be thoroughly discussed. An introduction to Ayurvedic psychology and the Ayurvedic assessment techniques of pulse and tongue diagnosis will be presented. Dr. Douillard will discuss Yoga and its intimate relationship to Ayurveda.

Finally, we will discuss Ayurveda’s relevance and application to health care practice in the West.

More info on the subsequent conferences can be found on the website.
