Re: self diagnosing(the aurvedic guna) book?
Thu, December 6, 2007 - 9:57 AMI have seen that many people have done inaccurate diagnosis with books and charts because they get prakruti and vikruti mixed up, most people have some kind of vata imbalance so many people think they are vata when actually they may be pitta or pitta vata with excess vata. -

Re: self diagnosing(the aurvedic guna) book?
Sun, December 9, 2007 - 7:23 AMThat is why I recommend two...
"A Life of Balance" by Maya Tiwari (also has great food charts and recipes)
and
"Ayurveda and Pancha Karma" by Sunil Joshi (he covers prakruti and vikruti)

Re: self diagnosing(the aurvedic guna) book?
Sun, December 9, 2007 - 3:02 PMRight, Ananta. It's so hard to see ourselves clearly. Try even to give a longer test to your spouse, your friends and let them fill out a test for you. You will find that the results often differ vastly. You may think of yourself as patient but your spouse thinks otherwise, you see :-)
Also, I had a time were I colored my hair red, and an Ayurvedic practitioner concluded from that alone that I am a pitta. Ayurvedic practitioners don't even ask of your hair is colored sometimes. I like when they do the percentages.

Re: self diagnosing(the aurvedic guna) book?
Wed, December 12, 2007 - 3:34 PMwell, I have noticed that pitta expresses itself in all spheres when it is high, and people with excess pitta often die there hair red, "like attracts like" but I wouldn't go by that alone, its just one more piece of the puzzle.
