I live in Florida and I'm graduating high school next year and it would help me out a lot if you can give me some feedback about ayurveda schools or some advice on where to go. I don't mind traveling to go study somewhere else like India, but I don't know if language would be an issue. I was thinking of studying for like 2 years to become an ayurvedic practitioner. So if you know any good schools that can really teach, please let me know :) thank you :DDDDD

Re: Where to study Ayurveda???? please help "/
Fri, May 30, 2008 - 5:46 AMI recently relocated from LA to India for the same purpose, studying ayurveda for 2-3 years. I am now based in Pune studying with some eminent vaidyas. Let me tell you, though, and not to discourage you, it is difficult finding a quality diploma program. I myself tried to enroll and am exploring an option at the Tilak Ayurved Mahavidyalaya - Ayurved Rasashala, the premier institutes in the city (also famous because Dr. Svoboda studied there). I am a licensed physician in India (Western Medicine), and even enrolling in the MSc program requires a Masters and published papers.
A vaidya named Dr. Sanjay Kulkarni (ayurvedabliss.com) has some good programs (although a bit pricey). I personally spoke with him and his wife at their home / panchakarma clinic, and his approach is very good. He was a key person in Maharishi Ayurveda in the US some years back.
Kerala has some good options if you know who to contact. Avoid the commercialized "Panchakarma package deal" type places, and stick with the Arya Vaidya Shala in Kottakkal.
Incidentally, Dr. Vasant Lad remains one of the respected authorities even in India, especially concerning naadi pariksha (pulse diagnosis); however naadi is only a drop in the vast ocean of ayurveda =)
All the best with your studies and your dharma.
