    <summary type="html">Ulcers are generally caused by vitiated pitta.  These cause burning and discomfort in the stomach and esophagus, usually due to untimely acid secretion in the stomach.  Pitta causes irritation of the delicate lining of stomach.  Also, normally, there is a layer of kapha (mucus) that protects the inner lining of stomach.  It prevents your own pitta digesting your own tissue.  Sometimes this protective lining is insufficient at places causing the mucosa to get ulcerated.  We treat this condition with a mineral called suvarnagairik usually taken with gum acacia dissolved in water four times a day.  Gum is sticky in nature and has very good ulcer healing properties.  This replaces the protective mucus cover of the internal lining of the stomach (mucosa).  However, if suvarnagairik is not available, you can use gum acacia only.  You may take this 1 gram four times a day.&#xD;
